Amana Refrigerators

I have an Amana refrigerator model #BB20VPSE (freezer on the bottom). About a year ago I started having problems with the unit where the freezer was working but no cold air was getting to the fridge part. I tested a number of parts (including the fan) and I ended up having to replace the thermostat and the unit was working fine. About 6 months ago I put the fridge into storage.
Recently I took the unit out of storage and tried to use it again. The unit will not get cold (either in the freezer section or the fridge). I did move the unit to a new location and to transport it laid it on its back for the short trip. I let the fridge sit upright for about a day before I plugged it in again to see if it would work.
Tested the thermostat thinking that it might have gone bad but it seems to be ok. I also temporarily bypassed the thermostat by jumpering the connectors to each other to see if the fridge would get cold. No luck. I also put power to the evaporator fan (located in the freezer section) and it did come on.
Not sure if this would have an impact on the unit working, but both doors were also flipped from opening from the left to now opening on the right.
Any suggestions on what to check next to see what is wrong with the unit?

Okay well i have an used refrigerator, that i have been meaning to get rid of. It cools up and freezes perfectly. It’s an Amana Energy Saver.
But i need some cash, so does anyone know of a place i can sell it at for a good amount of cash that’s in Phoenix or Glendale, AZ?

I have a Amana refrigerator MOD# ABB2224DEB (bottom freezer) and the freezer is working fine but the fridge part isn’t getting cold at all. when i turn up the fridge there is a clicking noise coming from the top vent thing that sounds like something is trying to start. does anyone know how to fix this?

It is about 15 years old but it still looks new and worked great. Neither the freezer or fridge side is getter cold. The motor is running and lights still on, but no cold. I replaced the motor/pump for the ice maker/water dispenser and had all the dust cleaned away about a month ago. Any ideas? Of course I don’t want to buy a new one but should I just let it go because of the age? It is an Amana.
It hasn’t been moved since a month ago, and at which time it worked great after the repair, nothing got punctured either.

Should I try to get it gassed or no….what is the average life of a refrigerator?

i am looking at purchasing a new range, refrigerator and dishwasher. at my old house i purchased new jenn air appliances that werent cheap at all. i had problems with my jenn air fridge, called the company and had it replaced under warranty. the guy that replaced it was from "whirlpool corporation", the company that owns jenn air (as well as maytag, amana, kitchenaid and many others) and im sure the same parts are probably used across all their brands, which makes me think that i would be better off paying less money for maytag products. Anyways can anyone recommend a brand? I was considering electrolux because they have some innovative and great looking products, but i have heard they are absolute crap! What about maytag or kitchenaid? i would even consider bosch. please share your experiences. thanks

This is a frost free refrigerator and it keeps everything cold as it should including its freezer. The problem I have is that the top of the refrigerated section leaks water from a hole located there. What happens is that when the water accumulates enough, it will drip. It occurs every single day. The freezer is on top of that. We have placed a pie plate on the shelf to collect the water that drips. Would this be something worth repairing or do you think it’s just time to buy a new one? The appliance is at least 7 years of age and is an Amana.

By the way, we try to keep the bottom of the appliance clean. If you know what is wrong with it, please share if you can. Thanks.

Amana refrigerator is 10 years old.

Hi I am having a problem with a amana refrigerator. it was working fine until we had a lightening and thunder storm the other day. I heard something popped and then the smell of something burnt. The fans and lights all work fine in the fridge except it is not cooling I change the starter cap and it is doing the same thing. Like the compressor (motor) is not coming on (starting up). Can someone who knows about refrigerator give me ideas or advice as to what could be possible be wrong. Thanks.

I am looking for what could have caused the defrost heater in my Amana side by side refrigerator to short out and stay on. It melted the door and the trays and partially cooked food that was inside. I did notice my coffee pot quit keeping time correctly as well. Could a power surge or possibly lightning have caused these things to happen. My insurance company wants to know what caused it and the repair guy could only say it shorted and didn’t know why???? Please help! Thanks

I have a 7 year old Amana (freezer on the bottom) refrigerator that started making noise as it clicked on and off… until it stopped working altogether. A repair man replaced a "3 in 1 relay start/run". It worked for 5 days, stopped, rested, then worked for another 5 days. This has been the pattern.
The original repairman said we should get a new refrigerator. Someone else suggested that the cause might be a bad thermostat. Any ideas?

I have an Amana SXD23VL side by side Refrigerator. it’s not freezing nor staying very cold. Also can anyone tell me what the silver box with the RED Knob located underneath the bottom of Fridge is for?(behind the bottom vent cover)

hello I noticed my fridge not cooling that great. I put a thermostat in the freezer, and noticed it will get to 0, then the fridge will not kick back on till the temp in the freezer gets to about +20 almost 30. Then kicks back on and lowers back to 0 Any help will be very helpful, not getting many hours at work and dont have much money to call a service man.

My Amana refrigerator fan located on the lower back quit turning and the sides of the refrigerator got really hot. I gently tapped the fan blade and it started turning and everything works fine until it quit again. I vacuumed the coils at the bottom of the refrigerator and it did not help. Where should I look?

On Sunday, the freezer portion of My Amana ARB8057CW suddenly stopped cooling. This is a fridge where the freezer is on the bottom (like a drawer). A day or so later, the refrigerator stopped cooling as well.

The lights work, the motor is running, everything else seems to be working but it’s not cooling. Did someone hit a switch or something and screw something up? Is this a common problem?

We already checked the temperature, that’s not it. We cleaned the condenser tray… turned it off for a couple of days. All of the refrigerator repair places are all booked up for Thanksgiving repairs. Help!

To make it colder should the number be higher or lower on the Amana ARB1905C refrigerator and freezer??

I’m trying to shop around for a decent quality, cheap refrigerator. My price range is under 0 (yes, poor college student on her own) I’ve broken it down to two brands that were in my price range and size: Americana and Armana, anyone have any idea or experience with these two brands of appliances, especially refrigerators? Keep in mind, they will not be for a family of 6, but for a student living in her own apartment. Size and space don’t really matter.

You have to push hard on the freezer door to get ice or water dispensed.

No idea how to make it work, turn it on, etc.

I can see some ice build up in the back of the inside of the freezer. Is this something that can be fixed? The refrigerator is 6 years old.

I bought a new Amana bottom mounted refrigerator/freezer last month. However, it seems to be running almost all the time – just as much as the old one with the bad door gasket. Four out of five times I go in the kitchen, it’s sounds like it’s running, but my electric usage decreased by 50 KWH from the previous month. Any ideas what’s going on with the new fridge?
